About Prasonica nigrotaeniata (Simon, 1909)
Prasonica nigrotaeniata (Simon, 1909) is an African spider species belonging to the family Araneidae. It has a broad distribution across West, Central, East Africa, and South Africa. Within South Africa, it has been documented in four provinces: Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo, and Mpumalanga. This spider lives at altitudes between 526 and 1,444 meters above sea level, and has been collected from the Grassland and Savanna biomes. Prasonica nigrotaeniata builds orb webs in low vegetation. When it is not active, the spider spins a silk retreat underneath a leaf.
