About Potentilla webberi (A.Gray) Greene

Potentilla webberi is a small perennial herb that grows in ground-level clumps in the clay soil of local sage scrub habitats. Each of its leaves can reach up to 7 centimeters long, and is composed of multiple hairy, lance-shaped green leaflets that measure between 3 and 10 millimeters long. Its red to reddish-green stems are typically not erect; they reach up to 15 centimeters long, growing along the ground or drooping over its surface. Each stem produces an inflorescence consisting of a single cluster of several flowers. Each flower is roughly 1 centimeter wide, with five triangular to lance-shaped greenish sepals and five bright yellow petals. The flower center holds five stamens and usually five pistils.
