About Potentilla muirii (A.Gray) Greene

Potentilla muirii is a small perennial herb that grows in tufts of erect leaves and stems. Each leaf is 2 to 5 centimeters long, formed from many densely hairy, overlapping leaflets that give the leaf the shape of a cylindrical, pointed body colored whitish to silvery. Its mostly bare stem grows up to 15 centimeters long, and bears a clustered inflorescence of flowers. Each individual flower is roughly half a centimeter wide, with triangular sepals covered in long, white hairs. Narrow, pointed bright yellow petals grow between the sepals. A small number of stamens and pistils are located in the center of the flower. The fruit of Potentilla muirii is an achene around two millimeters long, gray in color with reddish spots.
