About Potentilla douglasii Greene

Potentilla douglasii is a perennial herb that grows as a thick tuft of erect leaves, each reaching up to 15 centimeters tall. Every leaf is composed of wedge-shaped or rounded leaflets with toothed or lobed edges. These leaflets are often gray-green and somewhat hairy. The brown or reddish hairy stem grows to a maximum height of around 60 centimeters, and supports an inflorescence made of several flower clusters. Each flower has small, pointed bractlets positioned beneath larger sepals that can be green, red, or magenta. The flower also bears five petals that range in color from white to pinkish. At the center of the flower, a ring of ten stamens surrounds a cluster of 10 to 20 small pistils.
