About Potentilla canadensis L.

Potentilla canadensis, commonly known as dwarf cinquefoil, is a species of the cinquefoil genus Potentilla that is native to North America. The Iroquois people use a pounded infusion made from its roots as an antidiarrheal. The Natchez people administer this plant as a medicine for people believed to be bewitched. Alongside Potentilla simplex, this plant acts as an indicator of impoverished soil, and it also serves as a host species for the cinquefoil bud gall wasp Diastrophus potentillae.
