Potanthus omaha is a small skipper species. Its wingspan measures 20 to 24 mm. The upper wing surface (recto) has a dark brown base color, with clearly contrasting bright orange-yellow markings. The lower wing surface (verso) is black, and the wings are again marked with yellow. The costal half of both the forewing and the hindwing is heavily covered in yellowish scales.
