About Potamogeton richardsonii (A.Benn.) Rydb.
Potamogeton richardsonii (A.Benn.) Rydb., commonly called Richardson's pondweed, is an aquatic plant species. It is native to a large portion of northern North America, covering all of Canada as well as the northern and western regions of the United States. It grows in various types of water bodies including ponds, lakes, ditches, and streams. This perennial herb produces a narrow, mostly unbranched stem that grows from a mat of rhizomes located in the underwater substrate. The stem reaches a maximum length of approximately one meter. Its leaves grow up to 13 centimeters long and about 3 centimeters wide, with crinkly tips that may be pointed or rounded. Its inflorescence is a spike of flowers that rises to the water surface attached to a peduncle.
