Portentomorpha is a moth genus that belongs to the family Crambidae. This genus contains only one recognized species: Portentomorpha xanthialis Guenée, 1854. This species has a recorded distribution spanning from Texas to Louisiana and Florida in the southern United States, the West Indies including Cuba and Puerto Rico, and the region from Mexico to Bolivia including Colombia and Ecuador. The wingspan of Portentomorpha xanthialis ranges from 24 to 27 mm. In Florida, adult individuals of this species have been recorded on the wing during the month of August. Portentomorpha is the type genus of the tribe Portentomorphini, which was established by Hans Georg Amsel in 1956.
