About Poritia hewitsoni Moore, 1865
Poritia hewitsoni Moore, 1865 is a small butterfly species with a wingspan of 31 to 38 mm. Males have dark iridescent blue coloration on their upper wing surfaces, and usually have submarginal and apical spots. The cell on the upper side of the male forewing is completely without blue, or in some cases has a very small blue spot at the base. Males also have a tufted brand on the upper hindwing, located above vein 7. The underside of the wings is brown, with variable pale linear markings. Females are brown on the upper wing surfaces, with a small number of blue spots. The upper forewing of females has a yellow discal patch positioned above a blue area. This species ranges along the Himalayas, from Kumaon to Assam in India, and extends into Myanmar. It has also been recorded from Mangan and Rangpo in Sikkim.
