About Poranthera microphylla Brongn.
Poranthera microphylla is a densely branched annual herb. It can grow either decumbent or somewhat upright, with a slender form reaching up to 30 cm (12 in) tall. It has soft, smooth branches and blue-grey leaves that are egg-shaped to spoon-shaped. The leaves are thin, typically 4โ15 mm (0.16โ0.59 in) long and 8โ15 mm wide, with mostly flat or slightly recurved margins. The leaf petiole measures 2โ5 mm (0.079โ0.197 in) long, and the leaf apex is blunt or rounded, usually tipped with a short, triangular point. Its flowers are arranged in a corymb around 0.3โ0.8 cm (0.12โ0.31 in) across; petals are white or pink, and bracts are narrowly egg-shaped, growing up to approximately 4 mm (0.16 in) long. Each flower sits on a pedicel up to 1.5 mm (0.059 in) long. Flowering mostly occurs from September to April. The fruit is a 3-lobed capsule, 1.5โ2 mm in diameter, that is white and warty. Commonly called small poranthera, this species is widespread. It grows in dry montane forest, woodland, and grassland, found across New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia, Tasmania, Queensland, and the Australian Capital Territory.
