About Polypogon biasalis (Walker)

Hipoepa biasalis (scientific name Polypogon biasalis (Walker)) is a species of moth in the family Noctuidae, first described by Francis Walker in 1859. It is distributed across the Oriental tropics, from India and Sri Lanka to Taiwan, Sumatra, Borneo, the Philippines, and Sulawesi. Adult moths are greyish with more prominent dark black markings. The medial band on the forewing is diffuse. A straight, whitish submarginal band with a black zone runs from the forewing costa to the dorsum. The hindwings are slightly paler than the forewings. The caterpillar of this moth feeds on dead foliage, and it has been recorded as a defoliator of soybeans in Rajasthan, India.
