About Polyphylla variolosa (Hentz, 1830)

Polyphylla variolosa, commonly known as the variegated June beetle, is a species of scarab beetle that belongs to the family Scarabaeidae. This species is native to North America. Its body is reddish-brown, and adults grow to a little over two centimeters in length. In males, the club ends of the antennae are longer than they are in females, and males have seven antennomeres. Its preferred habitat consists of sandy soils, primarily located near the Great Lakes and coastal regions stretching from Quebec in the north southward to Virginia.
