About Polygonum glaucum Nutt.

Polygonum glaucum Nutt., commonly known as seabeach knotweed and seaside knotweed, is a North American plant species belonging to the buckwheat family. It grows along the Atlantic Coast of the United States, ranging from Alabama to Massachusetts, and occurs in salt-water inlets including Chesapeake Bay and the Hudson River. This plant is a branching herb that can reach up to 70 cm (28 inches) in height. A wax coating covering its leaves and stem gives it a silvery or bluish-green appearance. It produces pink or white flowers that grow in groups of 1 to 3. It can be found growing on beaches, sand dunes, and along the edges of coastal marshes.
