About Polygonia c-aureum (Linnaeus, 1758)
Polygonia c‑aureum, commonly known as the Asian comma, is a medium-sized butterfly. Its known range covers Japan (from Hokkaidō to Tanegashima), the Korean Peninsula, China, Taiwan, and Indochina. This species is common in suburban areas and is not classified as a threatened species. The larvae of Polygonia c‑aureum feed on plants including Humulus japonicus, also called Japanese hop.
