About Polygonella ciliata Meisn.
Scientific synonym: Polygonella ciliata Meisn. Polygonum delopyrum, commonly known as fringed jointweed or hairy jointweed, is a plant species endemic to Florida. It grows in pinelands and sandy pine barrens at elevations below 50 m, occurring in central and southern regions of the state. This species is an annual herb that can reach up to 110 cm in height, and branches above its base. Its leaves are narrow and linear, growing up to 5 cm long, and bear cilia (long flexible hairs) along the leaf margins. The inflorescence can grow up to 45 mm long. Flowers are white; some flowers are hermaphroditic, containing both male and female reproductive parts, while others are pistillate, female only. The achenes produced by this species are brown, triangular in cross-section, and reach up to 4 mm in length.
