Polygala calcarea F.W.Schultz, commonly called chalk milkwort, is a flowering plant species belonging to the Polygalaceae family. It is native to western Europe. This species is a delicate, mat-forming evergreen perennial. It reaches approximately 5 cm (2 in) in height and spreads to around 20 cm (8 in) wide. It has leathery oval leaves and produces spikes of small, vivid deep blue flowers during spring. For cultivation, it grows best in sharply drained conditions, and it is well suited for planting in alpine gardens.
