About Polydrusus formosus (Mayer, 1779)

Adult Polydrusus formosus reach a length of 5–6 millimetres (0.20–0.24 in). These beetles have a brilliant metallic green coloration, because their black bodies are covered in round, emerald-colored scales. When these scales wear away, the underlying dark body becomes visible. Their antennae are pale, with a dark club-shaped tip. A short groove runs between the eyes, and clear striae are visible on the elytra. This species can be found across most of Europe and in the Nearctic realm.
