About Polycarpa aurata (Quoy & Gaimard, 1834)
Polycarpa aurata is a tunicate that reaches a height of 5 to 15 cm (2 to 6 inches). It has an urn-shaped, hollow body that features two siphons: one positioned at the top of the body and the other on the side. This tunicate has a white base body color, marked with purple and orange patches as well as purple lines. Its interior is yellow or orange, and this interior color is visible around the rim of its siphons. This species occurs in the tropical eastern Indian Ocean and the western Pacific Ocean. Its confirmed range includes the Philippines, Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and northern Australia. It can be found at depths between 5 and 50 m (16 to 164 ft).
