About Polites mystic sonora (Scudder, 1872)
Limochores mystic, commonly known as the long dash or long dash skipper, is a species of butterfly. This species is commonly found in northern regions of North America, and in mountain areas of southern North America, where it occupies grassy habitats. These grassy habitats include meadows, marshes, streamsides, wood edges, and prairie swales. The upper side of its wings has dark brown base coloration with reddish to yellowish-orange markings. Female individuals have a broad black patch at the base of the forewing. Male individuals have a long, slightly curved stigma on the forewing, which may be connected to the dash located near the wing's apex. Underneath the hindwing, this species is orange brown with a curved band of equal-sized yellow spots.
