About Podosphaera prunicola U.Braun
This fungus, Podosphaera prunicola U.Braun, forms effuse or patchy white to greyish mycelium on the leaves of its host plants. Like most species in the Erysiphaceae family, Podosphaera prunicola is highly host-specific, and only infects plants in the genus Prunus. Because a large number of other powdery mildew species also grow on Prunus, care must be taken when identifying this species. In North America, P. prunicola is the most common and widespread powdery mildew species that infects Prunus, and it is commonly found on hosts such as Prunus virginiana. In Europe, it occurs on introduced North American Prunus species, most frequently Prunus serotina.
