About Podosphaera clandestina (Wallr.) Lév.
This fungus forms a thin coating on the leaves of its host plants, most commonly on young shoots and new branches. Like most members of the Erysiphaceae family, Podosphaera clandestina is fairly host-specific, and only infects a small number of plant genera. There is another species of powdery mildew that also infects Crataegus: Phyllactinia mali, which forms weak, very thin, often smooth growth that occurs on the undersides of leaves.
