About Plusiodonta compressipalpis Guenée, 1852

Plusiodonta compressipalpis, commonly known as the moonseed moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Erebidae. This species was first formally described by Achille Guenée in 1852. Its range in North America extends from Minnesota, extreme southern Canada, and Connecticut southward to northern Florida and Texas. The wingspan of adult moonseed moths measures 25 to 33 millimeters. Adults are active between May and September each year. Across most of its range in eastern North America, this species produces two generations per year. The larvae of Plusiodonta compressipalpis feed on plants from the genus Menispermum and on snailseed vines.
