Plectranthus saccatus is a shrub species that belongs to the mint family, Lamiaceae. It is native to the southern Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal provinces of South Africa. Its natural habitat includes forests or shaded coastal areas. Three infraspecific subdivisions of this species are currently accepted: Plectranthus saccatus var. longitubus Codd, Plectranthus saccatus subsp. pondoensis van Jaarsv. & T.J.Edwards, and Plectranthus saccatus subsp. saccatus.
