About Platysace filiformis (Bunge) C.Norman
Platysace filiformis (Bunge) C.Norman is an erect or sprawling perennial herb or shrub. It has rigid stems that grow 15 to 60 centimeters (5.9 to 23.6 inches) high. The stems are very flat, edged with two wings that are sometimes narrow, and can reach 4 to 8 millimeters (0.16 to 0.31 inches) wide. This species has small leaves that are few in number, or sometimes reduced to small scales. Its flowers are white or cream-colored, arranged in compound umbels 12 to 25 millimeters (0.47 to 0.98 inches) wide at the ends of branches. Two or three of the umbel rays are sometimes divided into secondary umbels. Flowering occurs year-round, and the fruit measures about 1.6 millimeters (0.063 inches) long and 2 millimeters (0.079 inches) wide. Platysace filiformis grows in near-coastal areas, often in moist soil. It occurs in the Avon Wheatbelt, Esperance Plains, Jarrah Forest, Swan Coastal Plain and Warren bioregions of south-western Western Australia.
