About Platysace ericoides (Sieber ex DC.) C.Norman
Platysace ericoides (Sieber ex DC.) C.Norman is a semi-prostrate to weakly erect, open shrub. It typically reaches a height of 10 to 50 cm (3.9 to 19.7 in) and has scaly or hairy branches. Its leaves are linear, elliptic, or oblong, and are mostly 2.8 to 20 mm (0.11 to 0.79 in) long and 0.5 to 1.8 mm (0.020 to 0.071 in) wide, growing on a petiole that is up to 0.5 mm (0.020 in) long. Flowers of this species are arranged in umbels 5 to 22 mm (0.20 to 0.87 in) wide, with around 3 to 10 rays on peduncles that are mostly 5 to 15 mm (0.20 to 0.59 in) long. The umbels have narrowly elliptic bracts up to 2.5 mm (0.098 in) wide, and each ray usually holds 2 to 8 white or cream-coloured flowers. Flowering takes place from August to December, and the fruit is roughly 2 mm (0.079 in) long and wide. This species grows in heath and woodland on sandy soil. Its distribution ranges from Mittagong in New South Wales to south-east Queensland, and also covers the area between Moe and Orbost in Victoria.
