Platynota flavedana, commonly known as the black-shaded platynota moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Tortricidae. Within the United States, its distribution ranges from Minnesota east to Maine, south to North Carolina, and west to Arizona. For this species, male forewings measure between 5 and 6.5 millimeters in length, while female forewings are between 6 and 8.5 millimeters long. The larvae of Platynota flavedana feed on a wide variety of plants, with recorded host genera and species including Acer, Eupatorium, Helianthus, Dianthus caryophyllus, Helianthemum, Hypericum perforatum, Rhododendron, Trifolium, Sassafras, Gossypium hirsutum, Gossypium thurberi, Fragaria, Prunus persica, Rosa, and Citrus.
