About Platycleis albopunctata (Goeze, 1778)
Platycleis albopunctata, commonly called the grey bush cricket, can easily be confused with the very similar species Platycleis grisea in mainland Europe. This species inhabits areas with low, dry vegetation, including sunny slopes and open sandy fields. Its primary body color ranges from greyish to brownish, and it often has reddish-brown markings on the upper side of its head and neck. It has long wings. Platycleis albopunctata is omnivorous, feeding on both plants and smaller insects. Males of this species are fairly aggressive, and they attract mates using a mating song that is a rather weak "zirr".
