Platanthera sparsiflora (S.Watson) Schltr. is an orchid species, commonly called the sparse-flowered bog orchid. It is native to forest and meadow areas of the western United States, ranging from Colorado and New Mexico west to California, and also including Washington and Oregon; its range extends south to Baja California. This orchid grows in wet habitats. It grows a slender, erect flowering stem that reaches up to around half a meter, or 1 foot 8 inches, tall. The longest leaves, which grow near the base of the stem, can be up to 15 centimeters (6 inches) long and 3 centimeters (1 1/4 inches) wide. Its inflorescence holds widely spaced twisted green flowers, with petals reaching up to 1 centimeter (1/3 inch) in length.
