Platanthera lacera (Michx.) G.Don is a perennial orchid. It grows between 20 and 77 centimeters (8 to 30+1⁄3 inches) tall, and typically has 2 to 7 leaves that range in shape from lanceolate to narrow elliptic. Its inflorescence is a terminal raceme, measuring 4 to 25 centimeters (1+1⁄2 to 9+3⁄4 inches) in length, and holds 15 to 60 whitish-green flowers. The flowers produce a fragrance at night, and are pollinated by crepuscular moths.
