About Plagodis alcoolaria (Guenée)

Description: The wings of Plagodis alcoolaria are yellowish-white, with orangish-brown shading and lines that range in color from orange to brownish black. The outer perimeter line of the wings curves outward, and meets the wing's costa closer to the apex than it does in other species of the genus Plagodis. This species also has a large discal spot on its wings. The summer brood of this species, sometimes classified as P. kempii, is paler yellow in overall color and has fewer wing markings than the spring brood. Distribution and habitat: Plagodis alcoolaria is found throughout North America. Its observed range extends from Nova Scotia in the northeast to Georgia in the southeast, west to Manitoba. It is also present in South Dakota, Missouri, and Mississippi.
