Plagiobothrys acanthocarpus is a species of flowering plant in the borage family, commonly known as adobe popcornflower. It is native to California and northwestern Mexico, where it grows in moist clay soil habitats, including vernal pools. This species is an annual herb with a spreading or erect stem that grows 10 to 40 centimeters long. Its leaves are linear, lance-shaped, or oblong, and reach several centimeters in length. The entire plant is covered in rough hairs. Its inflorescence is made up of a series of tiny flowers. Each flower has a five-lobed white corolla with a yellow throat, and is less than 3 millimeters wide. The plant's nutlets are covered in long prickles, with smaller bristles between the prickles.
