Pithecellobium unguis-cati (L.) Benth. is a plant species that belongs to the legume family Fabaceae. Its natural distribution extends from Mexico, through Central America and the Caribbean, and reaches as far as Colombia, Venezuela, and Florida in the United States. This species has been recorded under many different taxonomic synonyms. One of its synonyms, Pithecellobium saxosum, is listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List, and this synonym taxon occurs in Guatemala and Honduras.
