The moorland chat, with the scientific name Pinarochroa sordida, is also commonly called the alpine chat or hill chat. This species is a songbird that belongs to the Old World flycatcher family. It is endemic to the eastern Afromontane region. This bird inhabits high-altitude moors and grassland, typically occurring at elevations above 3,400 meters, which equals 11,100 feet, though it can live at elevations as low as 2,100 meters, or 6,900 feet. It has physical traits of a short tail and long legs. It is a bold species that will readily approach humans.
