Pimelea villosa Banks & Sol. ex Meisn. is a sprawling shrub with hairy branches. It grows almost exclusively on sand dunes and the areas associated with these habitats. The species produces pointed leaves that measure 5 to 15 mm in length and 3 to 7 mm in width. It bears white flowers, and its fruit can be black, red, pink, or white. It is classified as at risk and declining. Only one natural location remains where the species grows naturally: Otaki Beach, where approximately 20 wild plants survive today.
