Physalis coztomatl is a plant species belonging to the genus Physalis. This species produces edible orange-yellow fruits, but it is rarely cultivated. Its leaves are oval-shaped. Physalis coztomatl is native to America, and historically the Aztecs used it for medicinal purposes. The species contains labdane diterpenes, and it was the first species within the genus Physalis in which this group of compounds was discovered.
