About Phyllanthus calycinus Labill.

This partial description of Phyllanthus calycinus Labill. is drawn from the identification key published by Hunter and Bruhl in 1997, and is intended to differentiate this species from other Phyllanthus species native to Western Australia. Its leaves are typically fully formed, but may sometimes be reduced in size. The species is monoecious, and its branchlets have a smooth texture. The sepals of female flowers enlarge as the fruit develops, completely enclosing the mature fruit. The fruit measures 3 to 5.2 mm in one dimension and 5 to 6 mm in the other, and it encloses a seed that measures 2.5 to 3.9 mm in one dimension and 1.8 to 2.5 mm in the other.
