Pholiota velaglutinosa A.H.Sm. & Hesler produces the following characteristics in its fruit bodies. When young, these fruit bodies have a slimy veil. The species' caps are sticky, reddish, and measure 3–6 cm (1+1⁄4–2+1⁄4 inches) in diameter. Its gills are tannish and closely spaced. The stipe grows up to 7 cm (2+3⁄4 inches) long, and has a gelatinous ring. This species produces a brown spore print.
