About Pholiota gummosa (Lasch) Singer

Pholiota gummosa produces fungal fruiting bodies with caps that range in color from straw-yellow to beige. These caps measure 2 to 6 cm (0.8 to 2.4 inches) across in diameter. On the underside of the cap, crowded gills attach to the stipe in an adnate arrangement. The gills are pale yellow when young, and become brownish as the mushroom ages and its spores mature. This species of mushroom produces a brown spore print. Its individual spores are smooth, thin-walled, and somewhat bean-shaped (described as subphaseoliform), with dimensions of 6 to 8 by 3.5 to 4.5 μm.
