About Phlox stolonifera Sims

This species, scientifically named Phlox stolonifera Sims, is commonly called creeping phlox. Its flowers typically have five petals, though they can also have six or seven petals. Flower colors range from pale blue and violet to purple and vibrant shades. Creeping phlox is widely used as a groundcover. Its trailing growth habit and dense, mat-like foliage help suppress weed growth, and prevent soil erosion on slopes or in areas where grass does not grow well.
