About Phleum alpinum L.

Phleum alpinum L. is a perennial bunchgrass that grows in loose clumps, reaching heights of 20 to 60 centimeters. Its inflorescence is a cylindrical to oval cluster of spikelets, measuring up to 6 centimeters long and 1.2 centimeters wide. Phleum alpinum has a circumboreal distribution, meaning it grows in northern areas of the Northern Hemisphere, and also extends south through the Americas to southern South America. It can be found on subantarctic islands including South Georgia Island, where it is one of the most common plant species.
