About Philotheca queenslandica (C.T.White) P.I.Forst.
Philotheca queenslandica (C.T.White) P.I.Forst. is a wiry shrub that reaches about 1 meter (3 feet 3 inches) in height, and has glandular-warty branchlets. Its leaves are densely clustered near the ends of the branchlets, and are broadly egg-shaped with the narrower end oriented towards the base. Individual leaves measure 9โ30 mm (0.35โ1.18 in) in length and 1.5โ7 mm (0.059โ0.276 in) in width. Flowers are arranged singly in leaf axils, on a peduncle that can grow up to 3 mm (0.12 in) long, with each flower borne on a 3โ6 mm (0.12โ0.24 in) pedicel. This species has five more or less round sepals, and five elliptic to oblong cream-coloured petals that are 4โ10 mm (0.16โ0.39 in) long, 1.5โ4 mm (0.059โ0.157 in) wide, and tinged with pink. Its ten stamens are hairy, with longer hairs located near the tip. Flowering occurs sporadically throughout the year, and the fruit is 5โ8 mm (0.20โ0.31 in) long with a short beak. Philotheca queenslandica grows in wallum heathland, in moist or seasonally flooded, boggy or sandy soil. It occurs in south-eastern Queensland, Australia, between Boonooroo and Bribie Island.
