About Philothamnus semivariegatus (Smith, 1840)

Philothamnus semivariegatus has a bright green body marked with black speckles. Its average snout to vent length ranges from 60–90 cm (24–35 in). This species is distributed from South Africa northward to Sudan and Uganda, and extends from Guinea eastward to Tanzania; there have also been sightings of the species in Nigeria. During the summer, female P. semivariegatus lay between 3 and 12 elongated eggs. Each newly hatched individual has a total length (including the tail) of approximately 25 cm (9.8 in).
