About Phelotis cognata (Walker, 1860)

Phelotis is a monotypic moth genus in the family Geometridae, which was erected by Edward Guest in 1887. This genus contains only one species: Phelotis cognata, commonly known as the long-fringed bark moth. This species was first described by Francis Walker in 1860, and is found in Australia. Males of this species have a wingspan of approximately 26 mm, while females have a wingspan of approximately 30 mm. The larvae of Phelotis cognata feed on species of the genus Exocarpus, and it is thought that the larvae also feed on other types of food plants.
