About Phanogomphus hodgesi (Needham, 1950)
Phanogomphus hodgesi, commonly called Hodges' clubtail, is a clubtail dragonfly species that belongs to the dragonfly family Gomphidae. This species is found along the Gulf Coast of the United States, in the states of Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Phanogomphus hodgesi was recently classified as a member of the genus Gomphus. In 2017, the former subgenus Phanogomphus was elevated to full genus rank, and this species was moved into the Phanogomphus genus. The International Union for Conservation of Nature has assigned Phanogomphus hodgesi the conservation status "NT", meaning near threatened. This status indicates that the species may become officially threatened in the near future. The species' current population is stable, and its IUCN conservation status was most recently reviewed in 2018.
