About Phagnalon rupestre (L.) DC.

Phagnalon rupestre, commonly known as rock phagnalon, is a shrub species belonging to the Asteraceae family. It is native to Mediterranean basin countries in Europe, North Africa, and Western Asia, as well as Iran, Iraq, the Arabian Peninsula, and the Canary Islands. This species has a self-supporting growth form, simple broad leaves, and dry fruit. Mature individuals can reach a height of 0.25 m. Two subspecies of Phagnalon rupestre are currently accepted: Phagnalon rupestre subsp. morisianum (Ces., Pass. & Gibelli) Arcang., which is found in Sardinia, and Phagnalon rupestre subsp. rupestre, which occurs across the entire native range of the species.
