About Phacelia lyallii (A.Gray) Rydb.
Phacelia lyallii (A.Gray) Rydb., commonly known as Lyall's phacelia, is a plant species belonging to the family Hydrophyllaceae. This species is native to the central Rocky Mountains of North America. Its known distribution spans western Montana, southwestern Alberta (Waterton Lakes National Park), central Idaho (Lemhi County), and extreme southeastern British Columbia (Akamina-Kishinena Provincial Park). It grows only on scree slopes and crevices over quartzite substrates in alpine areas, and is often found in locations with abundant snowmelt. Phacelia lyallii is pollinated by several species of Bombus bumblebees. It co-occurs with and very closely resembles Phacelia sericea, but can be told apart by its relatively shallowly-cleft, pinnately-lobed leaves.
