About Phacelia bolanderi A.Gray

Phacelia bolanderi A.Gray is a species of flowering plant with several common names: Bolander's phacelia, Bolander's scorpionweed, blue-flowered grape-leaf, and caterpillar flower. This plant is native to Oregon and coastal northern California. It was named in honor of Henry Nicholas Bolander, a California botanist. It produces attractive papery flowers that reach one inch wide, which can be purple, lavender, or blue. Its leaves are strongly toothed and resemble grape leaves. This species blooms later than most other plants, and is commonly in flower through the hottest summer months.
