About Pfaffia glomerata (Spreng.) Pedersen

Pfaffia glomerata (Spreng.) Pedersen is a medicinal plant native to Argentina, Bolivia, and the Cerrado and Pantanal regions of Brazil. It is widely considered an aphrodisiac, a property that is potentially attributed to β-ecdysone found in its roots. This steroid compound is thought to have an effect on human libido. In addition to primary metabolites including inulin-type fructans and fructooligosaccharides, Pfaffia glomerata contains gallic acid, pfaffic acid, glomeric acid, oleanolic acid, saponins, anthraquinones, tannins, flavonoids, rubrosterone, and ecdysterone.
