About Petrorhagia nanteuilii (Burnat) P.W.Ball & Heywood
Petrorhagia nanteuilii is a flowering plant species belonging to the Caryophyllaceae family. Its common names are childing pink, productive carnation, proliferous pink, and wild carnation. In the British Isles, this species was not reliably distinguished from Petrorhagia prolifera in the past, but today the two are recognized and recorded as separate species. Due to this history of confusion, the common name proliferous pink is likely incorrect for this specific taxon. Petrorhagia nanteuilii is an annual plant that grows up to 50 centimetres tall. It has linear, opposite leaves that clasp the stem. Small pink flowers grow in small ovoid heads, and typically only one flower is visible at a time. After flowering, the plant produces ovoid seed capsules. This species is native to Europe, and has become naturalised in other regions.
