About Persoonia stradbrokensis Domin

Persoonia stradbrokensis Domin is an erect shrub or tree that usually grows 1 to 6 meters (3 feet 3 inches to 19 feet 8 inches) tall. It has smooth bark on its upper sections and rough bark on the lower trunk. Young branchlets of this species are covered in greyish to light brown hairs. Its leaves are broadly elliptical to egg-shaped, measuring 30 to 110 millimeters (1.2 to 4.3 inches) long and 10 to 40 millimeters (0.39 to 1.57 inches) wide, and are hairy when young. Flowers are arranged in groups of up to twenty along a rachis that grows up to 100 millimeters (3.9 inches) long and continues growing after flowering. Each individual flower sits on a 1 to 4 millimeter (0.039 to 0.157 inch) long pedicel, with a leaf or scale leaf at the base of the pedicel. The yellow tepals measure 10 to 13 millimeters (0.39 to 0.51 inches) long. Flowering occurs mainly from December to May, and the fruit it produces is a drupe. This geebung species grows in habitats ranging from coastal heath to forest, in near-coastal regions of Australia. Its distribution spans from Tin Can Bay in south-eastern Queensland to the Hastings River in north-eastern New South Wales.
